The School Board is transitioning to Diligent Community (formerly Board Docs) for management of School Board meeting materials, agendas, and reports.

Diligent Community will improve organization of documents and provide a central hub for easy access to agendas and materials for all School Board meetings. Members of the public will be able to sign up to receive updates when meeting materials have been added or items have been changed.

Public testimony sign-ups can be accessed from the new Diligent Community page, so please bookmark the new link. The sign-up form will also be available through the current webpage during our transition period.

The 2026-27 School Board Student Representatives were announced at the June 3 Regular Board Meeting. Congratulations to senior Yohanna Micheal (Franklin) and juniors Eliana Faunce (Chief Sealth) and Frena Tesegazeab (Garfield)! They will join current Student Representative Josephine Mangelsen (West Seattle) and their first school board meeting will be in September.

During the April 22 Regular School Board Meeting, the Board approved the adoption of McGraw Hill Emerge! elementary school curriculum and their Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) positions. They heard presentations about the expanded access to advanced math in middle school and an enrollment update.

Board Meeting Notes

At the March 11 Regular Board Meeting, Superintendent Shuldiner and the School Board recognized the Rainier Beach boys basketball team for their back-to-back state title win, and the Roosevelt girls basketball team for reaching the state semi-finals. They also participated in a robust discussion about grants and the Student Assignment Transition Plan.

Apply to be a School Board Student Representative

Applications are now open to apply to be a 2026-27 School Board Student Representative. Students entering their senior year are eligible to apply for a one-year term and students entering their junior year are eligible for a two-year term.

Board Meeting Notes

The School Board approved two amendments at the Regular Board Meeting on Feb. 11. One made changes to the Student Board Member program (including changing their title to “Student Representatives”). The other established three standing committees.
