Welcome to Seattle Public Schools! Seattle Public Schools has award-winning neighborhood and option schools where families find great educators, strong academic programs, and engaged community.
Students are assigned to a school based on where that student lives. Students may apply to attend a different school through the School Choice Process.
School Choice applications received in February will receive priority and eligible for tiebreakers. SPS will continue to accept late applications until May 31. Late applications are prioritized based on the date the application is received.
Enrollment Resources for Families and Students
To enroll in SPS schools, students must live within the district attendance boundaries. We welcome enrollment of non-resident students if they have been approved a choice transfer request. Read more about non-resident students.
Key Dates
Jan 6 New registrations for 2025-26 school year begins.
Feb 1-28 Open Enrollment School Choice priority applications will be accepted (tiebreakers apply).
March 1-May 31 School Choice late applications will be accepted (NOT eligible for tiebreakers).
April 22 Open Enrollment results will be available online.
May 31 Last day to enroll for 2024-25 school year.
June 2-Aug 31 Non-resident applications will be accepted.
Aug 31 Waitlists for the 2025-26 school year will dissolve.
Enroll My Student
If your child is 5 by August 31, you can enroll them in kindergarten for that year! Parents and guardians can enroll their students online. In-person assistance is also available at the John Stanford Center.
We are here to help answer registration, enrollment, and assignment questions. Help is available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Amharic, Somali or Vietnamese.
