Well-resourced Schools Community Survey

We also have created an online survey to be sure we are reaching our community members who may not have attended one of our meetings. The survey will close Friday, Sept. 29.

Feedback collected on this survey will help Seattle Public Schools better understand the SPS community vision of what a well-resourced school looks like. Your feedback will help guide future district planning.

About Well-Resourced Schools Community Conversations

Watch our Well-Resourced Schools Where Students Thrive video with Superintendent Brent Jones.

The online meeting will use a similar format as our in-person meetings. SPS senior leaders will share a presentation and facilitate group discussion.

These community conversations are centered around small group discussion of three questions. The questions are: “What are your favorite things about your school building?”, “How do we make resources and services at each school stronger?”, “What kinds of programs do you and your student value most and why?”

This feedback will help us better understand the SPS community vision of what a well-resourced school looks like. Your feedback will help guide future district planning.

SPS has the opportunity to reimagine a system of well-resourced schools that is safe and equitable. Our goal is to offer students the support, the programs and resources, and the inspiration they need to succeed in the neighborhoods where they live.

During these meetings, senior leaders will connect with our community to envision what a well-resourced school looks like. We need your feedback: Well-resourced schools

We are excited to create a united vision for well-resourced schools. You are invited to join us in a community conversation. Your feedback will inform future district planning.

Starting in August, we will host community meetings to talk with students, families, staff, and community partners. We are developing a shared understanding of what resources, programs, services, and learning experiences make up a well-resourced school.

Community Meetings

We will be hosting five regional in-person meetings Aug. 8–15. There will also be an online meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 5:30 p.m.

Translation and interpretation services will be provided at each meeting based on request. American Sign Language (ASL), Amharic, Cantonese, Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese interpreters will be available. After the online meeting, a recording will be posted to the Funding our Future webpage.

We will be sending you meeting details and an RSVP to request accommodation the week of July 17.

Guiding the SPS Well-resourced Schools Vision

SPS well-resourced school conversations will be guided by Board Policy 0010, Instructional Philosophy and Board Policy 0030, Ensuring Educational and Racial Equity. These policies demonstrate the Seattle Public Schools commitment that students will be supported and affirmed in their learning, with multiple pathways to success, in school environments where they feel seen, heard, and welcomed in all spaces.

Information and recommendations gathered during this engagement will be shared with the SPS community this fall.

Thank you for being a part of building a definition of well-resourced schools. Your feedback is essential!

You can find resources and updates on the Funding Our Future webpage.

Sincerely,

Dr. Brent Jones
Superintendent
Seattle Public Schools
