Congratulations to Dr. Keisha Scarlett

Dear Seattle Public Schools community,

Please join me in offering congratulations to Dr. Keisha Scarlett on her new opportunity as the next superintendent of St. Louis Public Schools!

Dr. Scarlett has been a changemaker and visionary leader in our district for 25 years. I am confident her deep experience has set her up for success in St. Louis. She is going to take that same fire she poured into her roles here to St. Louis. She is the epitome of Seattle Black excellence.

Her educational leadership experiences range from being a STEM teacher at Asa Mercer International Middle School; principal of South Shore PreK-8, Human Resources director, and leading the Equity, Partnerships, and Engagement Division. Since January 2020, she has served as our assistant superintendent of academics.

A multigenerational resident of Seattle, Dr. Scarlett is a Seattle Public Schools alumna. She has dedicated her career to advocating for and creating academic opportunities and environments that tap into the inherent brilliance of students, particularly those furthest from educational justice.

Dr. Scarlett begins her next journey with St. Louis Public Schools on July 1. I am excited to see how she will apply her brilliance to support student achievement!

In partnership
