  1. Amendment to the 2023-24 Regular Board Meeting Schedule. Approval of this item would approve amended Regular Board Meeting dates for the remainder of 2023-24. Immediate action is in the best interest of the district.
  2. Acceptance of King County Priority Hire Grant Funding. Approval of this item would authorize the Superintendent to sign the Federal Community Services Agreement, King County CPA # 6416691 and accept grant funds in the amount of $499,770.16 for implementation and oversight of the SCWA agreements for construction projects at Alki, John Rogers and Montlake elementary schools; Asa Mercer International Middle School; and Rainier Beach High School. Immediate action is in the best interest of the district.
  3. Acceptance of 2023-24 Farm to School Purchasing Grant. Approval of this item would authorize the Superintendent to execute an agreement with the Washington State Department of Agriculture to receive payment of $593,557.20, to provide students with nutritious Washington‐grown foods, with any minor additions, deletions, and modifications deemed necessary by the Superintendent, and to take any necessary actions to implement the agreement. Immediate action is in the best interest of the district.
  4. BTA V: Approval of Student/Teacher Apple device refresh to support teaching and learning and equitable access for each student districtwide. Approval of this item would authorize the Superintendent to authorize purchase orders with Apple Computer for a total not-to-exceed $8,688,800 (exclusive of Washington State Tax), for iPads, AppleCare warranty, and protective cases during fiscal years 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26 with any minor additions, deletions, and modifications deemed necessary by the Superintendent to implement the purchase orders. Immediate action is in the best interest of the district.
  5. BTA V: Award Consulting Services Contract P2110 to Hargis Engineers, Inc., for the Clean Energy Planning project. Approval of this item would authorize the Superintendent to execute consulting contract P2110 with Hargis Engineers Inc., in the amount of $726,398 for the project, with any minor additions, deletions, modifications, and actions deemed necessary by the Superintendent to implement the contract. Immediate action is in the best interest of the district.
  6. BEX V: Approval of Budget Transfer and Authorization for the Superintendent to execute the Guaranteed Maximum Price Amendment for the Asa Mercer International Middle School Replacement project. Approval of this item would approve a budget increase of $1,700,000 for the Asa Mercer International Middle School Replacement project revising the overall project budget from $152,542,598 to $154,242,598. Additional funding for the budget increase will come from the Building Excellence (BEX) V Capital Levy Program Contingency. Approval of this item would also authorize the Superintendent to execute the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) amendment for contract P5184 with Cornerstone General Contractors, in the amount of $108,496,624 plus Washington State sales tax (WSST), with any minor additions, deletions, and modifications deemed necessary by the Superintendent. Immediate action is in the best interest of the district.
  7. BEX V, Distressed School Grant, and K-3 Class Size Reduction Grant: Final Acceptance of Contract P5149 with Allied Construction Associates, Inc., for the West Woodland Elementary School Addition project. Approval of this item would accept the work performed under Contract P5149 with Allied Construction Associates, Inc., for the West Woodland Elementary School Addition project. Immediate action is in the best interest of the district.
  8. BTA V: Final Acceptance of Contract K5126 with Terra Dynamics, Inc., for the Playground, Asphalt, and Field Improvements at Daniel Bagley Elementary School project. Approval of this item would accept the work performed under Contract K5126 with Terra Dynamics, Inc., for the Playground, Asphalt, and Field Improvements at Daniel Bagley Elementary School project as final. Immediate action is in the best interest of the district.
  9. BTA V: Final Acceptance of Contract K5127 with Hellas Construction, Inc., for the Tennis Court and Site Improvements at the Ingraham High School project. Approval of this item would accept the work performed under Contract K5127 with Hellas Construction, Inc., for the Tennis Court and Site Improvements at the Ingraham High School project as final. Immediate action is in the best interest of the district.

D. Action Items

  1. Approval of the 2023-2026 Collective Bargaining Agreement between Seattle School District No. 1 and Teamsters Local Union No. 117. Approval of this item would approve the 2023 – 2026 Collective Bargaining Agreement between Seattle School District No. 1 and Teamsters 117 and authorize the Superintendent, on behalf of the Board of Directors, to execute the Agreement in the form attached to the School Board Action Report, with any minor additions, deletions, and modifications deemed necessary by the Superintendent and to take any necessary actions to implement the terms of this agreement. Immediate action is in the best interest of the District. (Introduction & Action)
  2. Authorization to accept proceeds of lawsuit settlements. Approval of this item would authorize the acceptance of settlement proceeds in an approximate amount of $1.75 million in the litigation described below.  Approval of this item would also waive the provision of Board Policy No. 1420 stating that Board action reports and relevant supplementary information are posted to the District’s website at least three days in advance of the meeting.   1. Review and Approval of 2023-24 Career and Technical Education (CTE) and (STEM) Annual Plan Per Board Policy No. 2170.Approval of this item would approve the 2023-24 Career and Technical Education Annual Plan, as attached to this Board Action Report.
  2. Approval of courses with new content as defined by Superintendent Procedure No. 2026. Approval of this item would approve the New Course Additions for School Year 2024-25 as attached to the Board Action Report.
  3. Approval of the negotiated 2024-25 and 2025-26 School Year Calendars. Approval of this item would approve the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school year calendars as negotiated with labor partners and according to calendar rules provided in the 2022-25 Seattle Education Association (SEA) Certificated Employees Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) as these calendars are attached to the Board Action Report with any minor, non-substantive additions, deletions and modifications deemed necessary by the Superintendent.
