Summary: The Seattle School Board approved two adoptions for digital instructional materials in English Language Arts (ELA) and Algebra and Geometry.

Math and English Language Arts Instructional Materials Adoption

On May 8, 2024, the Seattle School Board approved two adoptions for digital instructional materials in English Language Arts (ELA) and Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. The selection will help the district achieve the goals of the Seattle Excellence strategic plan to create culturally responsive and inclusive classrooms. 

The new instructional materials for students in grade 6-8 ELA will be Inquiry by Design. The new materials for Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2 will be Illustrative Mathematics.

SPS teachers and students will begin using these resources at the start of the new school year (September 2024).

SPS Curriculum teams are rolling out educator professional development for these new resources this summer.
