These are extraordinary times that while riddled with heartache, trauma, and growing inequalities, are also times that are filled with hope and possibility. It is my goal and my duty as an educator – particularly as an educator of color who teaches young people of color – to help those young people uncover their truths and manifest their dreams so that they feel empowered to liberate themselves and the world.

I’m entering my 6th year as an educator and am officially claiming the title of an abolitionist teacher, which means I am committed to…’the practice of working in solidarity with communities of color while drawing on the imagination, creativity, refusal, (re)membering, visionary thinking, healing, rebellious spirit, boldness, determination, and subversiveness of abolitionists to eradicate injustice in and outside of schools’ (Dr. Bettina Love — We Want To Do More Than Survive: Abolitionist Teaching and the Pursuit of Educational Freedom).

I am excited to be a part of the Cleveland community – go Eagles!
