Balkan Foster, Boo

Special Education Department Co-Chair; Extended Resource Case Manager

balkanfoster@seattleschools.org

I attended the University of Washington where I earned my BA and was a member of the Varsity Women’s Crew team. I earned my MAT from Seattle Pacific University.

Prior to joining Chief Sealth Special Education Department – Extended Resource I worked with the SPS Native Education Department and partnered with Chief Sealth International High School and Denny International Middle School. I taught at Middle College and American Indian Heritage School.

Being an educator is a gift. I love my students and am humbled to be part of their stories.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my spouse and our two children.

I am a Jicarilla Apache descendant and also adopted Makah into the Turk Markishtum family. I believe quality teaching is an act of love.

Please reach out to me should you have questions.

IEP Teacher

I am so excited to begin my teaching career at Lincoln High School this year as a part of the IEP department! I have recently graduated with a Master of Special Education at the University of Washington- Go Dawgs. I have spent the past 3 years working in SPS, first as an Americorps volunteer with City Year, and then as an IA at both Denny Middle School and Garfield High School. After growing up in a small town in Nebraska, I moved to Seattle in 2012 and love the pacific northwest! I am deeply looking forward to connecting and growing both personally and professionally with the Lincoln community!
