In the 20 plus years I have been a teacher in Seattle, I have taught many grade levels at a couple different schools. I have been at Hay since 2004 and I am teaching one of my favorite grades, fourth grade. I have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and a BA in Sociology-anthropology. I hold high expectations for all of my students and love to sing with my class as often as possible.
Over the past 25 years, I have had the amazing opportunity to work as a Classroom Teacher and Reading Specialist with wonderful families, students, and colleagues in Bellevue, Shoreline, and Seattle. When I am not at school, I enjoy reading, running, traveling, and spending time with my two sons.
I am so lucky and honored to be part of the John Hay community. As a Reading Specialist, I am passionate about helping students master the foundations of reading in order to become confident readers.
As the Preschool Special Education teacher, it is my passion to help students grow and learn through play academically, emotionally, and socially. I strive to create a positive learning environment where instruction is differentiated to ensure that all students make progress. Families are a crucial part of the education process and I look forward to working with the families of my students each year.
I have worked at John Hay for over 20 years and I am honored to be part of the Hay community. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, gardening, traveling, and spending time with my wonderful family. Let’s go Jaguars!!
I love teaching 4th/5th grade! Teaching the oldest kids in the school is the best! Going to overnight camp and teaching FLASH is my favorite thing about 5th grade!
EDUCATION: I have a Masters in Human Development, and a BA in English literature. Go Dawgs!
PERSONAL: I am mother of three kids. I love to travel, spend time with friends and family and I’m obsessed with gardening when my back is not hurting!
TEACHING: I would consider myself as a warm demander. I have high expectations for my students and they reach them!
Welcome to 4th/5th grade in the Perfect Pink Paradise!
I have been a Special Education teacher at John Hay since 2004 and I am a proud (former) John Hay parent! I received my dual certification in General Education and Special Education at WWU and my M.Ed. at UW. I have taught in New Zealand and Japan, and am proud to call both Seattle and Hawaii home. My passion is working with and advocating for our students with special needs. John Hay Rocks!
I have been a teacher at John Hay since 2004. I currently teach 4th/5th grade, which is the best! With a student-centered focus, high expectations for all, and work around developing the whole child, I work to ensure that every student is ready for success in middle school and beyond.
I am committed to empowering my students to be advocates for themselves and others.
I was born and raised in Seattle. I have five siblings, and my family all still lives in the area, too. One of my siblings is also a PE teacher. I grew up in Ballard. I have been at John Hay since 2016, and I have enjoyed all the positive relationships I have built with students and staff over the years. I love to see students living healthy, active, and joyful lives through physical activity. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, going to baseball games, hiking, and being outside in the PNW as much as possible. I also love going to different baseball stadiums throughout the country, and I have been to 17 MLB stadiums!
