Straub, Brian
Teacher - Special Education - Resource
brstraub@seattleschools.orgI have worked in Seattle schools in many different jobs since 2003. In that time, I have worked in around 80 different schools. I became a special education teacher because I love being able to work with students one-on-one and in small groups. It’s a great way to bond and build rapport with students. I have a master’s in teaching from SPU and have worked at Licton Springs since 2019. I love the small size of our school, the community and the flexibility that those things allow us.

Ali, Hussna
World Literature and French Teacher
hmali@seattleschools.orgHello everyone! This will be my first year at Lincoln and I am thrilled to be teaching French and English. I have a B.A. in French and Psychology, and a M.A. in Teaching from the University of Washington. I am born and raised in Seattle. After my B.A., I lived in France on and off for about four years before deciding to come back home and fulfill a life goal of mine: to give back to the community that raised me. I have lived in Nantes, Paris, and Toulouse, with a majority of my time spent in Paris teaching English to high schoolers. My time teaching in SPS has been primarily at Ingraham High School, with a brief stint at Hamilton International Middle School. This will be my first full year at one school, and I am excited to help my students grow into the best versions of themselves as we engage with the content through the cultural lens that accompanies it.
In my spare time I enjoy traveling, cooking, wine tasting, reading, and the occasional camping trip or hike that is of course obligatory as a Seattle native. Oh and how could I could I forget Soccer! I have worked at Arena Sports (Magnuson/SODO) since I was a teenager, so if I look familiar there is a good chance I have helped you at the front desk or coached soccer to your kids!
Arias, Abel
Spanish Teacher
abarias@seattleschools.orgPersonal Message
Hello! I recently joined the World Language Department at Lincoln and I’m very excited to be here. I’ve been teaching Spanish at the high school and university levels for the past 9 years. In addition to teaching language and culture, I hope I can bring some college readiness into my classroom.
I earned my BA with a double-major in Spanish and Sociology from UW, my first MA in Hispanic Studies from UW, and my second MA in Iberian and Latin American Languages and Cultures from UT Austin. So I’m a Husky at heart but also a Longhorn.
I’m a car enthusiast, I love traveling and experiencing new cultures and food, and I will defend pineapple on pizza any day.

Baker, Lisa
Visual Arts Teacher
labaker@seattleschools.orgI have been teaching visual arts for over 20 years. I teach Drawing and Painting, AP Studio Art and Ceramics at Lincoln. My first three years I taught visual art at a high school in Colorado and I have also worked with middle school students in West Seattle. I have a Bachelor of Arts from Colorado State University, and my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Seattle University. I have worked as a Teacher Leader at the district level to help develop scope, sequence, and assessments for visual arts focused on State Standards and 21st Century Skills.
I believe a strong arts program; with access for all students, I help facilitate students to discover and enhance their creativity to become contributing members of our ever-changing world. I love teaching. I love working with students, teachers, and parents to foster an art program that encourages a love and respect for the arts that reflects the importance of culture and community. As a community member, parent and arts advocate in the Seattle Public School system I am thrilled to grow and foster a strong art program for Lincoln High School for years to come.
I encourage all of my students to participate and have fun in my hands-on learning environment to “Find the artist within!”
Bess, Daniel
Science Teacher
dabess@seattleschools.orgPersonal Message
I am a born and raised Texan finding some relief from ridiculous temperature and flat topography here in WA; I graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth where I earned a B.S. and ultimately a M.Ed in Secondary Science instruction. I stayed in the Dallas area to teach, and made the move to the Seattle area 3 years ago – I have taught high school science for 12 years in subjects including: Astronomy, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, AP Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Earth Space Science. I have taught in traditional settings and more progressive PBL settings, and I have found that I truly value an experience where “WHY we learn this” and “doing something” with our content is at the forefront. In my free time, I have a borderline obsession with ultimate Frisbee and board games. I also enjoy spending weekends with my dog, Brodie, out hiking, camping, running, dog parking… pretty much whatever you can do with a dog – he’ll be there doing it with me. My major goals are to inspire and enable all students to ask relevant questions worth answering, and empower them to find relevant answers because: 1) they are scientifically literate members of society AND/OR 2) they can devise a way to answer these questions through their own resources and problem solving.
Dvorak, Veronika
Extended Resource Teacher
vedvorak@seattleschools.orgHi, I’m Veronika!
I graduated from UW with my Masters in teaching in 2015. I believe that I have the BEST job in the world and that ALL kids are GOOD kids. Our classroom is our community…. we all deserve a place where we can feel safe, learn, belong and experience JOY everyday! When I am not at school you might find me walking my dog Wendell, hanging out by the water, skiing down a mountain or listening to live music with friends!
