Get Ready for the SAT/PSAT
Seattle Public Schools will offer a free school-day SAT for 12th graders and PSAT/ NMSQT for 11th graders throughout the month of October. All 11th and 12th graders have been registered for their respective exams.
The SAT and PSAT/NMSQT have transitioned to a digital platform. Students and families should check with their school to learn more about their specific exam dates.
Digital Administration
The College Board’s transition to a digital platform means all 11th and 12th graders will take their exams on computers. All students, including students in the Running Start program, are required to use their SPS device per Superintendent Procedure 2022SP. This ensures technical support can be provided on-site by SPS staff on the day of testing.
Running Start students must schedule a time with their local high school to pick up an SPS device at least one week before testing is to begin.
SPS offers the school-day SAT to support all students with access to Washington State graduation pathways. SAT scores are one tool used to show college and career readiness after high school graduation.
We offer the PSAT/NMSQT to our 11th graders to provide feedback to students on the strengths and skills necessary for college study. PSAT/NMSQT is a criterion for National Merit Scholars. And it can also help juniors qualify for additional college scholarships.
Please contact your school counselor or academic intervention specialist for more information on the SAT and PSAT/NMSQT. The College Board website offers information about the SAT and PSAT/NMSQT and access to free preparation resources.
