Montlake Students Share Their Art in Downtown Seattle Exhibition

Seattle Public Schools is celebrating student creativity at Montlake Elementary, where artwork from every student is currently on display at an art center in downtown Seattle.

The exhibit is called Mega Super, a K-5 collaborative installation created over the course of one month by SPS students. Inspired by the work of Saya Woolfalk’s Empathic Universe and the colors and textures of Jeffrey Gibson, this work stands as a tribute to hope, love, inclusion and all the goodness in the world.

Panels include:

  • Kindergarten: Intergalactic Peace Bells
  • Grades K-3: Portal to Stuffy Planet, Stuffy Planet
  • Grades K-5: Faces in Spaces, Oodles of Doodles
  • Grade 2: Geometric Cardboard Collages
  • Grade 3: Neon Fringe
  • Grades 4-5: Printmaking Studies, Quilted Messages

Montlake will hold an exhibition and choir performance at Cannonball Arts (1930 3rd Ave, Seattle) on Friday, April 24, from 4 – 7 p.m.

The exhibition is presented in partnership with Cannonball Arts, Bumbershoot, and the Muckleshoot Tribe, highlighting the role of community partnerships in supporting student learning and artistic expression.

Montlake Principal Julia Pearson said the exhibition reflects the care and creativity students bring to their learning every day.

“Our students put a lot of heart into their work, and this is an opportunity for them to see that effort recognized beyond our school walls,” she said. “We’re proud of them and grateful for the partnerships that made this possible.”
