Enrollment for the 2024-25 school year is open!

Enrolling Students at Seattle Public Schools

Seattle Public Schools has award-winning attendance area schools and option schools. We serve more than 50,000 students. Our schools include 62 elementary schools, 10 K-8 schools, 11 middle schools, and 17 high schools.

Key Dates

January 2 New registrations for 2024-25 school year begins.

January 27 Admissions Fair will be held at the John Stanford Center.

February 1 – February 29 Open Enrollment School Choice priority applications will be accepted (tiebreakers apply).

March 1 – May 31 School Choice late applications will be accepted (NOT eligible for tiebreakers).

April 16 Open Enrollment results will be available online.

June 3 – August 31 Non-resident applications will be accepted.

August 31 Waitlists for the 2024-25 school year will dissolve.

New Student Enrollment Forms

Will your child be 5 by August 31? Will your family be new residents of Seattle? It’s time to enroll.

What do I need to register?

Parents/guardians will need to complete the online registration for each student and submit the following documentation.

  1. Parent/guardian’s Photo ID or Passport
  2. Two pieces of address verification (dated within the past eight weeks)
    • Acceptable verification: current utility or cable bills; mortgage information; additional insurance documents; or documents from public agencies such as courts or the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). Lease or rental agreements can be used if you include the first page and the signature page
    • Not acceptable: Copies of envelopes are not acceptable for address verification.
  3. Student’s Certificate of Immunization Status or Certificate of Immunization Exemption. Visit our Immunizations webpage for more details.
  4. Proof of Student’s Age (students entering kindergarten or 1st grade, or applying to our Special Education Preschool program only): Provide documentation of student age (Birth certificate, hospital records, passport, current DSHS records, or court records are acceptable documents for a child’s birth date.) *Parents/guardians without one of the above documents are advised to contact the Admissions Center prior to enrollment to determine what substitute might be acceptable.

Families Experiencing Homelessness: Students experiencing homelessness are not subject to provide address verification or required documents. Visit our McKinney-Vento Program webpage for more information.

Enrollment Services Hours

  • Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Closed every third Wednesday at 12-5 p.m. for monthly staff meetings and trainings.
