Meet the SBIRT Staff

District Staff
The Assistant Manager of Prevention and Intervention and the Healthy Schools Coordinator are based in the district office. They develop best practices, track grant requirements and deadlines, and analyze data to identify trending concerns, program disparities, and needed program support. They also report and distribute relevant anonymous data to schools, families, students, other departments, and funding entities.
Lindsay Bolender, M.Ed (She/her) – Assistant Manager

Lindsay has been working within the King County SBIRT program since its implementation in 2018 and within Seattle Public Schools since 2021. She earned a Master in Education Policy from the University of Washington in 2021. Prior to SBIRT, Lindsay worked for ten years in early-childhood education. The things that keep Lindsay healthy and happy are reading, hiking, paddle boarding, travel, and dance.
Abdul Luna (he/him) – Healthy Schools Coordinator

This is Abdul’s 5th year in SBIRT. He has worked with students in different capacities for over eight years, previously running after-school groups and working as an IA. He is proud to facilitate the Men of Meany African American Boys Group, as well as Meany’s ping pong and Lego clubs. Abdul can be found tinkering with things and enjoying an audiobook to find center.
Prevention and Intervention Specialists
Prevention/Intervention (PI) Specialists are school-based professionals trained in brief intervention best practices & motivational interviewing. Along with school counselors, school social workers, and school administrators, PI specialists respond to and meet with students who indicate a need for support.
