Family Communication Pathways for Highly Capable

I have a question about my child’s Advanced Learner or Highly Capable status, identification, or programming at school. Who should I ask?
Student support is a collaborative effort that starts at the classroom level. Use this as a guide to determine where best to get information.

Start with your Student’s Classroom Teacher

Your student’s classroom teacher should be the first point of contact if you have questions about what learning looks like in your student’s classroom.

Next: School Principal

If you still have questions and/or concerns after communicating with your student’s teacher, please contact the school principal.

Last: SPS Highly Capable Department

If your question or concern has not been addressed after communicating with your student’s teacher and principal, please contact the Highly Capable team. The Highly Capable team should be your first point of contact regarding identification and eligibility.
