Seattle Public Schools Youth Arts Collective

What is the Seattle Public Schools Youth Arts Collective?

Launched in the 2025-26 school year, Visual & Performing Arts created the Youth Arts Collective to celebrate the creativity of youth across the district and to center student voices as part of a high-quality arts education. Students on the Youth Arts Collective build community with artists and creatives from other schools, give feedback on curriculum and course offerings, engage in public speaking opportunities, explore careers in the arts with Seattle professionals, and work with others on projects about arts education.

The Youth Arts Collective is comprised of 9 students from 9 different high schools across all 5 regions of the district. They represent the state arts disciplines of dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts and reflect the range of racial, cultural, gender, and other identities we have in our district.

Miguel Tati, Seattle World School

My name is Miguel Tati, and I am in 11th grade at Seattle World School Capitol Hill. I am passionate about music, theater, and dance, and I have been practicing these arts for about 1 year and 2 months since I arrived in Seattle. I have participated in several activities both inside and outside of school, and I regularly sing and act in theater. In addition, I lead the dance group at my school and work as a dance teacher, sharing my passion with other students. Last year, I received a merit award for leading and organizing school activities. What excites me most about participating in the Youth Arts Collective is the opportunity to work with peers my age, hear their ideas, and learn from everyone. I want to contribute through my art while also learning from the art of others, growing together with the community.
