McCoy, John

Construction Trades Teacher

jwmccoy@seattleschools.org

My wife Yuna and I are both born and raised in the Seattle area. She recently left a business career to study film directing, editing, and acting. We also have a mischievous French Bulldog named Hugo. My hobbies include collecting vinyl jazz records, winter camping, and French cooking.

My career started as an Infantry soldier in the U.S. Army where I deployed multiple times to Iraq and volunteered in New Orleans to help fellow citizens following the devastating Hurricane Katrina storm.

After a decade serving my country in the military, I shifted my service to Veterans and Immigration casework in Congress. I proudly worked for a Washington Governor, the State Speaker of the House and Congress improving benefits that supported causes I cared deeply about.

I got into residential construction because I wanted to create and build beautiful homes. My building experience tracks from remodels of early 20th century homes to complex new custom builds.

We need good people to fill in the trades and these are amazing jobs! It will be my honor to teach this generation the skills needed to join the building trades industry!
