Levin, Abigail

Librarian

Hello! I’m Abby Levin, your school librarian. Grateful to be here! I was inspired to enter the field of education after living in Toyama, Japan where I spent a year teaching English to elementary & middle schoolers. Since then, I’ve held a number of teaching roles including classroom teacher, multilingual teacher, and literacy interventionist before becoming a school librarian. I’m National Board certified in Literacy (renewed 2019) and hold an MA in Human Development, focusing on education as a catalyst for social change. I also hold teaching endorsements in Literacy, ML education, and School Library Media (UW).

I LOVE being a librarian and had the good fortune of opening two new libraries in Seattle Public Schools: Cedar Park Elementary (in Lake City) and Magnolia Elementary (where I still serve as half-time librarian). I’m an active member of the Washington Library Association, recently joining the Washington Children’s Choice Picture Book Award committee. Other interests include creative dabbling, writing, music festivals, farmer’s markets, and travel adventures both near & far. I’m a proud mother of two kids: Kavya & Ilan, middle & high school students in Seattle Public Schools. We live in Ballard with our dog Clementine (& my son’s corn snake “Norman Noodles, the 9th.”)

An impassioned advocate for books & libraries, I founded a zine called Library Love Letters (issue 2 out soon!). I look forward to teaching and learning with the Licton Springs community.

Rudnick, Anya

Art Teacher

alrudnick@seattleschools.org

(She/Her/Hers) I have taught K-5 visual art, drama, and creative movement in Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. My greatest joy is helping students discover their unique talents and ways to express themselves. My focus is on dismantling barriers to art, so that all students see themselves as artists. I have a B.A. in Art History and a M.Ed. in Arts Integration. When I am not teaching I love gardening, making art, cooking, backpacking, yoga, and traveling with my husband, daughter, and our dog.
