Having taught for over 20 years in San Francisco and Seattle, I am very excited to be part of the 3rd grade team at Coe. I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to Seattle in 2016 with my husband and two boys. I have taught kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and most recently, 3rd grade. I have a Master’s degree in Teaching, with a focus on Environmental Education. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher. When I’m not teaching, I love playing tennis, sewing costumes, and going to the beach with my boys.

3rd Grade Teacher

I’m grateful to be part of our wonderful Coe-mmunity! I grew up in the South Puget Sound and received my BA and MAT from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, where I also played basketball (go Loggers!) I have spent almost two decades teaching students in grades three through five and have been a member of the Coe team since 2018. Helping students to feel valued, love learning, think critically, and develop their passions makes teaching such a joy for me. When I’m not at school, you can find me outside hiking, mountain biking, wing foiling, or reading a good book. I also love cheering on the Seattle Storm and eating ice cream.

I grew up in Spokane and moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington. After graduating I did all kinds of interesting jobs including working at a ski resort in Utah and teaching English in Japan. Years later I received my Master in Teaching from Seattle University. My husband and I have lived on Queen Anne for over 25 years. Our own children were fortunate enough to attend Coe Elementary. You may see me gardening, running, at the Market, or in the bookstore travel section.

Chelsea Gilgore

Gilgore, Chelsea

1st/2nd Grade Teacher

cmgilgore@seattleschools.org

My name is Chelsea Gilgore and I teach first/second grade at Coe Elementary. Growing up on the coast in Long Beach, WA, I often dreamed of becoming a teacher. My first experience in the classroom was while working for a non-profit outside of Arusha, Tanzania. I fell in love with teaching and pursued a Master’s degree in Education from Simmons College in Boston, MA as soon as I returned to the States. In Massachusetts, I taught both general education and special education in K, 1, and 2. A move home to Washington state brought me to Coe, where I am passionate about helping every child reach their full potential. As a graduate of UW (Go Huskies!) and a past Seattleite, I am grateful to be home pursuing my passion.

Andrew Fraser

Fraser, Andrew

4th Grade Teacher

adfraser@seattleschools.org

I started teaching at Coe in 2013. I have taught grades one through five but enjoy working with fourth graders most of all. In 2002, I moved to Seattle to pursue my teaching career. I grew up in New Hampshire and try to go back every year to visit my family. Presently, I live in Shoreline with my wife Carrie and our pets. We enjoy biking and hiking in the Pacific Northwest and going to Mariners games. I have had the opportunity to teach at many schools and have come to the conclusion that Coe is the best place to teach and learn.

Reading Specialist Grades K-3

aefleisher@seattleschools.org

Serving as Coe’s primary-grade reading specialist is a privilege and delight. Collaborating with classroom teachers, I provide brain-science-based literacy instruction to support developing readers. As a proud graduate of Seattle Public Schools, I attended Boston College and Seattle University and have a master’s degree in teaching. My family and I live just down the street from Coe, and my sons Jack and Peter, now SPS graduates, were once Coe Cougars. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, gardening, spending time with my husband Brian and our family, and contributing to the work of Read Washington, a literacy nonprofit. Working with young readers brings me immense joy!

I was born in Norway, attended public schools in Virginia, University of Richmond as an undergraduate, and UW for graduate school. I am National Board certified in literacy. My husband and I have a son and a daughter who are both graduates of SPS and UW. We love dancing, long walks, and eating pastries on the weekends.
