How I Got Into Education: My grandmother was a Special Education teacher who would always read to me. Eventually, that led to me convincing kids in my neighborhood to play ‘school’ with me and the rest is history.

Education: Christopher Newport University, B.A. English Literature; Middlebury College, M.A. English Literature
How I Got Into Education: I was working as a “Test Electrician” at a shipyard in Virginia in February 2007, checking work and helping fix mistakes. One of the electricians I was working with told me I should teach. I started taking college classes that summer.

How I Got Into Education: Throughout middle and high school I was lucky enough to have the same school counselor. As I navigated through the school system and my adolescents, she provided me with unwavering support. Ensuring I was presented with the same opportunities as my peers. Once I graduated high school and entered into my undergraduate studies, I knew that I would be an educator.
Hobbies: Exploring with my kiddo, writing, crafting, and spending time with loved ones.
Education: B.S. in Biology and Public Health from University of Washington. M.S. in Secondary Education from Johns Hopkins University
How I Got Into Education: My grandmother was an educator and was actually my principal for 9 years of my education. My mother always worked in early childhood education and encouraged me to do the same, leading me to work at a pre-school when I was in high school! Their passion for education and helping families was passed on to me, so I decided to fuse that with my love of science and become a science teacher!
Hobbies: Baking, hiking, reading, watching Seattle and UW sports, board games and spending time with family and friends!
