Warm Winter Wishes and a Happy New Year from Seattle Public Schools
Summary : A message from Superintendent Podesta
Dear SPS Families and Staff,
As the year draws to a close and we enjoy a season of reflection, compassion, and celebration, I want to share gratitude and aspiration.
It feels like school just started, and yet we are well into the second quarter of the year.
Our district is built on a foundation of diversity that enriches our schools. This time of year serves as a reminder that, despite our differences, we are united by a shared commitment to the success of every student in our community.
Every year comes with its challenges, but it also comes with many successes. Our dedicated educators, staff, and volunteers work tirelessly to create positive learning environments for our students. They keep the train moving with engaging lessons and provide opportunities for students to grow.
To our students, I hope the joy of learning continues to inspire you to explore your possibilities. Your potential is limitless, and I am confident that you will achieve great things in 2026.
To our families, thank you for your continued support and patience as we navigated our way through leadership changes in our schools and at the central office. I am excited to start the year off fresh with the new superintendent arriving in February. It is a time for renewed hope as we work together to make Seattle Public Schools one of the top districts in the nation.
As we wrap up 2025, let us carry forward the lessons learned from the year, fostering an environment of understanding and collaboration. Wishing you a season filled with happiness, rest, and memorable time with loved ones. We look forward to seeing you in the new year!
Sincerely,
Fred Podesta
Superintendent
