A Tapestry of Unity and Belonging

Pathfinder K-8 principal Daxa Thomas reveals the school’s Identity Quilt.

In a celebration of community and individuality, Pathfinder K-8 proudly unveiled its Identity Quilt in June—a stunning mosaic of over 400 unique tiles, each crafted by a student or staff member. This collaborative artwork is more than just a visual masterpiece; it’s a powerful symbol for Pathfinder.

Each tile tells a story—of culture, creativity, and connection. Together, they form a vibrant tapestry that reflects the diverse identities that make up the Pathfinder community. At the center of the quilt are four guiding words: safe, included, respected, united. Chosen by the Associated Student Body (ASB), these words embody the values Pathfinder holds dear and the environment it strives to create for every member of its community.

The Identity Quilt is a tribute to the 2024–25 school year, a time marked by growth, expression, and unity. Principal Daxa Thomas said the quilt stands as a reminder that while each of us is unique, we are all essential parts of something greater.

“This quilt doesn’t just hang on a wall—it speaks,” Thomas said. “It reminds every viewer that their voice matters, their identity is valued, and they belong.”
