James Baldwin Elementary

James Baldwin Elementary School was selected as the 2024 James D. MacConnell Award recipient by the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE). This global honor is the most prestigious of all the A4LE awards.

The James D. MacConnell Award celebrates comprehensive educational projects that address a detailed and specific planning process. The result is a facility that supports the educational goals of the district, the needs of a community, and is student-centered for active and dynamic learning.

Jurors noted in their selection of James Baldwin Elementary that the project addresses all components of the criteria in an exceptional manner.

James Baldwin Elementary opened for students in September 2023. It features a design that includes small group learning areas throughout the school and filled with natural light.

A collaborative process resulted in a building designed to fit into the neighborhood. The new two-story elementary school building provides the spaces and resources students need for academic success.
