In attendance: IPAC Leadership & Members Present

Meeting Called to Order at 6:39pm

1. Grant Update
  • Grant language was revised to change a consulting role to a position-based role due to SPS employment requirements.
  • Position will support Native Ed approximately 1.5 days per week.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Middle and high school student support
    • Data collection and tracking
    • Family and student communication
    • Credit retrieval support
    • Potential assistance with monthly parent information sessions
  • Grant language was expanded to clarify collaboration with Title I.
  • Revisions were approved unanimously by the IPAC board via email and submitted.
  • No feedback had been received at the time of the meeting.
2. Board Membership and Elections
  • All IPAC board positions will be open for election next year.
  • Trina Nonis announced she will not return to the board due to personal commitments.
  • Danielle R. Vaillancourt will step back from both CDT and IPAC for similar reasons.
  • Need identified for an active teacher representative to support families and attend events.
  • Board members expressed appreciation for Danielle’s service and contributions.
3. Teacher Representative Position
  • Teacher representative must be a teacher.
  • Representative cannot be a Native Ed employee.
  • Representative does not need to be Native, though Native perspectives are valued.
  • Members were encouraged to identify and nominate candidates for the upcoming year.
4. Student Support and Parent Information Priorities
  • Update requested on reading support for students with disabilities such as dyslexia.
  • Native Ed continues discussions with Special Education staff regarding available supports.
  • Native Ed hopes to use grant flexibility to bring in specialized expertise as needed.
  • Potential parent information sessions may focus on:
    • IEPs and special education services
    • Parent advocacy and student rights
    • Warning signs and available supports
  • Discussion highlighted the need for family education on:
    • Graduation requirements
    • Credit tracking
    • Early intervention beginning in 9th grade
    • Keeping students on track for graduation
5. Summer Program Resources
  • No summer program resources were included in this year’s grant.
  • Staffing capacity remains limited.
  • Credit retrieval options are available, but no additional reading or summer school resources were identified at this time.
  • Cascade Virtual Option may offer summer school opportunities, primarily online with some in-person check-ins.
  • A link to the program was offered for sharing with the group.
