Elementary School Summer Learning
General Program Information
- This program is for K – 4 students who were referred by Expanded Learning, recommended by school staff, and meet the eligibility requirements.
- Students who attended Summer Learning the previous year but no longer meet the qualification criteria may attend for one more year. After that, students must re-qualify based on updated data.
- Students must be currently enrolled in Seattle Public Schools as of January 6, 2025.
- The program runs for 4 weeks during the summer. Students must be available to attend all weeks of programming.
- Transportation will be provided to students who qualify for transportation.

Program Dates and Times
July 8 – August 1, 2025
Student Hours: 9:00am – 2:30pm
Schools open at 8:30am for bus arrival and breakfast
Attendance Policy
To maximize student success, families are expected to send their child every day. The program runs for 4 weeks during the summer. Students must be available to attend all weeks of programming. If your child is sick, please keep them at home until they are fever free for 24 hours. If a student misses more than three days of instruction, they may be dropped from summer learning. During summer, chronic absenteeism is defined as 4+ absences.

Students are assigned to a Summer 2025 HUB site based on home address.
Transportation
- Transportation is be provided to students who live at least one mile from the Summer Learning HUB site.
- Transportation is limited to the home address of the student.
- Transportation is not provided from daycare or other non-home address sites.
Enrollment and Waitlist
Enrollment is currently closed. Please follow the steps below to be added to the waitlist.
All SPS families will have access to their student’s Universal Screening results in the Source.
Families may request that their student be placed on the Summer Learning Waitlist after March 30.
Students are eligible to be placed on the Waitlist if they qualified for Summer Learning 2025 based on Map scores, families received an invitation to register, but families did not register the student.
Steps to submit an appeal:
Submit one Waitlist form per student: Summer Learning Waitlist Form
No students will be moved from the Waitlist after June 30, 2025.
Waitlist Process for Summer Programs:
- Submission of Waitlist Request:
- Families submit a request to be placed on the waitlist for the summer program.
- Students are assigned a Waitlist number based on the order in which the request is received.
- Waitlist Movement:
- To move off the waitlist, there must be available space in the student’s grade and the corresponding summer school site.
- Transportation: There is no guarantee of transportation being available when a student moves off the waitlist.
- Email Notification:
- When a spot becomes available for a student, the family will receive an email notification informing them of the availability.
- Response Time (24 Hours):
- Families have 24 hours to respond to the offer:
- If the family accepts the seat, the student will be enrolled in the program.
- If the family declines the seat, the student will be removed from the waitlist.
- Families have 24 hours to respond to the offer:
- No Response:
- If there is no response within the 24-hour time frame, the offered seat will be extended to the next student on the waitlist.
- The student whose family did not respond in time will be placed at the bottom of the waitlist for that summer site and grade.
