Your Voice Matters: Superintendent Community Engagement Meetings

Dear SPS Families and Staff, 

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Superintendent Community Engagement Meetings during the 2025-26 school year. We are grateful to the students, families, staff, and community members who shared their experiences, perspectives, and ideas. Your thoughtful feedback helped shape important conversations across the district and continues to inform our work as we strive to better serve every student. 

We’re excited to launch a new series of Community Engagement Meetings for the 2026-27 school year. 

These meetings provide an opportunity for you to share feedback on the issues that matter most to our school communities. 

Topics for discussion for our first meeting will include: 

• Academic Rigor 
• School Design (Neighborhood School, Option Schools, Dual Language, HC, etc.) 
• School Safety and Security 

These topics were highlighted as priorities from last year. For each subsequent meeting, we will continue to pick topics of importance from the community. 

To make participation as accessible as possible, all meetings will include: 

• Language interpretation (Amharic, Chinese, Somali, Spanish, Vietnamese) and ASL services 
• Light refreshments 
• Activities for children 

Upcoming Community Engagement Meetings (All meetings will be held on Tuesdays and run 6:30-8 p.m.):

• Oct. 27 at Eagle Staff Middle School (1330 N 90^th St., Seattle, WA 98103) 
• Nov. 17 on Zoom (Virtual) 
• Dec. 15 at Chief Sealth Intl. HS / Denny MS (2600 SW Thistle St., Seattle, WA 98126) 
• Jan. 12, 2027, at Coe Elementary School (2424 7^th Ave. W, Seattle, WA 98119) 
• Feb. 9, 2027, on Zoom (Virtual) 
• March 23, 2027, at Garfield High School (400 23^rd Ave., Seattle, WA 98122) 
• April 6, 2027, at South Shore K-8 (4800 S Henderson St., Seattle, WA 98118) 
• May 18, 2027, at Ballard High School (1418 NW 65^th St., Seattle, WA 98117)

We look forward to continuing these important conversations and building on the strong engagement we saw last year. Your voice matters, and together we can continue creating schools where every student feels supported, challenged, and prepared for success.
