Bridges

BRIDGES program is designed for young adults with disabilities ages 18-21 who continue to need special education services outside of a 9th-12th grade setting/curriculum in order to meet their own unique post-secondary transition goals. Interagency Academy

Interagency Academy is network of small, alternative high schools spread out across Seattle designed to support students who need different supports than comprehensive schools offer. Interagency sites include Youth Education Program (YEP), Alder Academy, Opportunity Skyway, Southwest at Youngstown, University District Youth Center (UDYC), Metrocenter YMCA, Southeast Academy, Orion, Ryther Center, SeaMar, YWLA, Columbia, Int Open Doors, Southwest YFS, Youth Care Bridge, Casa de los Amigos, KC Juvenile Detention, and KC Jail. Students transitioning from long-term placements in these facilities will be supported by Interagency. Read more about Interagency Academy.

Learning Center Seattle

Learning Center Seattle (LCS) is an Open Doors youth reengagement program for youth and young adults ages 16-21 who are off track to graduate on time or no longer in school. LCS prepares students through a self-paced GED program and provides instruction, tutoring, and wraparound community supports along the way. Once a student earns their GED, students can take college classes tuition-free at any of the Seattle colleges up to an Associate’s degree. Read more about Read more about Learning Center Seattle

Middle College High School

Middle College High School (MCHS) is a continuous enrollment school focused on early college access for all students, but especially for students of color, first generation college students, and those that are impacted by poverty.

Students in 9th and 10th grade and students who need to retrieve credits attend core subject area courses taught by SPS staff on the North Seattle College campus. The focus is on the concept of a Beloved Community, completing most of their graduation requirements and building the skills necessary for early college success.

Then students utilize the Running Start program to take free college courses at any of the Seattle Colleges. MCHS staff continues to support students as they attend Running Start in ways that comprehensive schools are not able to. This leads to MCHS students being more successful in Running Start as compared to SPS peers and ensuring that 100% of MCHS students graduate with college credit. Read more about Middle College.

Nova High School

Nova provides a strong academic program within a competency and project-based teaching and learning system, performance-based assessment, seminar-style course, multi-level classes, and independent study. In addition to learning individual and social responsibility, Nova students design their own programs of study within an interdisciplinary non-graded structure. Read more about Nova.

Seattle World School

Seattle World School is Seattle Public Schools culturally and linguistically diverse school for newcomer secondary students (ages 11-20). The school has a specialized on-site health center, enrollment center, and family support center. Families are supported to participate in their student’s education and reinforce their academic success. All students have access to extended day academic programs, extracurricular activities, and tutoring six days a week. Read more about Seattle World School.

Alan T. Sugiyama High School

Alan T. Sugiyama High School provides a small school setting focused on project-based learning. Other programs include AVID and credit retrieval as well as a GRADS program which offers an opportunity to take classes with other teen parents and learn how to make the first step to a career and successful family life.
