Child Care Options at Seattle Public Schools

On March 29, many SPS elementary and K-8 schools will re-open for pre-school students and for students with IEPs that require in-person instruction. On April 5, all elementary and K-8 schools re-opened for K-5th grade students who choose to return to part-time in-person learning.

As students and staff re-enter buildings, current childcare providers will not be able to serve as many students and families may need to make new childcare arrangements. We know that childcare is a critical support for many families, both those remaining remote and those planning to return in-person.

To meet families' needs, SPS, City of Seattle, and childcare providers have been working closely to develop solutions.

Please see the list below to learn the current status of childcare programs operating in schools this spring (April-June, 2021) and at which schools on-site childcare programs are not available this spring. We will update this website on daily basis as decisions are made on a school by school basis depending on the number of students returning and the number of classrooms needed.

Each childcare provider manages their own enrollment. Please contact them directly to learn if there are openings for childcare and to register your child.

If there is not a childcare program at your school and you are looking for full-day or half-day childcare, please visit the Child Care Resources website or call 1-800-446-1114. They maintain lists of all licensed childcare providers in Seattle and can help you identify options.

If your family needs help paying for childcare, please contact your current childcare provider or call the City's Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL) at 206-386-1050. DEEL staff can help match you with childcare opportunities at Seattle Parks and Recreation community centers and licensed childcare providers city-wide who accept subsidies for qualifying families.
