English Language Arts

Grades K-5

In 2016, Seattle Public Schools adopted English language arts instructional materials created by Center for the Collaborative Classroom for reading and writing instruction in grades K-5.  

Grades 6-12

The Seattle Public Schools English Language Arts Scope and Sequence, designed by our English language arts educators in 2014, provides an overall learning map for teachers. Based on Common Core standards for reading, writing, speaking and listening, the scope and sequence guides teachers on which standards to emphasize and suggests effective units of study. Your child’s classroom teacher can provide more information on these grade-level learning goals.
