Lincoln High School: Academic and Athletic Standouts

Lincoln Swim State
Lincoln Gymnastics State

Lincoln High School led the way with an impressive showing at the state level. The gymnastics team earned the title of Academic State Champions, secured a fourth-place team finish, and claimed a state championship on the beam.

Adding to the celebration, head coach Lindsay Raleigh was recognized as Coach of the Year for her outstanding leadership.

Lincoln’s success extended beyond gymnastics. The boys’ and girls’ wrestling teams and the girls’ swim team also earned Academic State Championship honors this year. The swim team made a powerful splash at state, finishing second overall, winning three state races, and earning 13 additional top‑eight finishes.

Chief Sealth Wrestler Makes History

Chief Sealth Wrestling Eli Policaprio State Champs
Chief Sealth Wrestling Lanuola State Champ

Chief Sealth International High School also had a banner year at state, with two 2026 State Wrestling Champions.

Lanuola Amituanai made history as the 2A 145 lb. Ladies State Champion, becoming the first female state wrestling champion from Seattle Public Schools. Lanuola dominated the tournament, pinning every opponent—including in the final match—and defeated eight other state-place winners over the course of the season.

Joining her on the podium, Eli Policarpio, the 2A 215 lb. Boys State Champion, capped off a remarkable season with a 53–1 record, setting a new Metro Conference record. Despite an injury in the final match, Eli showed exceptional grit and determination to finish strong and claim the state title. Eli’s father, Ernest Policarpio, is the team’s coach, making the moment even more special for the duo.

Rainier Beach Basketball Continues Its Legacy

School Board Rainier Beach Basketball
Rainier Beach Boys Basketball Championship

The Rainier Beach High School boys’ basketball team added another chapter to its storied legacy, winning its 11th state title on March 8 with a 75–53 victory over Lincoln (Tacoma).

The team was recognized by Superintendent Ben Shuldiner and the School Board at the March 11 School Board Meeting, alongside the Roosevelt High School girls’ basketball team, who were honored for reaching the state semifinals.

These achievements reflect the dedication, balance, and excellence of our students, coaches, and school communities. Congratulations to all—your hard work continues to set the standard across Seattle Public Schools.
