REQUIRED SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENTS
BY GRADE
LEVEL
|
|
Dear Students and
Parents:
Nathan Hale
requires a summer reading assignment for students entering
grades nine through twelve. For grades ten through twelve,
assignments require
written
work in addition to the assigned reading. The assignments vary by
grade level. The books listed cover a wide range of themes,
content
and reading levels. We encourage parents
and students to review book
choices together to get the most appropriate fit in terms of content
and reading level.

| Nathan
Hale Harlem Renaissance Culminating Project |
The
Harlem Renaissance Project is the culmination project for the
Junior
Humanities classes reflecting our study of the beginnings of the modern
Civil Rights movement.
The student
artwork presented during this project reflects the political and
artistic vision of this time. Self-Identity, reconnections with
cultural roots and the connections between seemingly disconnected
people are among the themes explored in these works.
This year,
student artworks were sold in an auction and the money was donated to
assist people in Africa. [ View Project ]
