Supporting Our Learners

Seattle Public Schools is committed to ensuring every student experiences meaningful learning, growth, and challenge. Some students demonstrate a need for learning opportunities well beyond grade level expectations. Through Highly Capable services, we work to provide appropriate academic challenge and support so students can continue to learn, grow, and thrive. Students identified for Highly Capable services demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and learning needs beyond what is typically required by peers of the same age.

HC identified students may choose to remain at their current school or attend a HC Pathway school. Learn more about pathway schools and Highly Capable Services. HC services may vary by school, grade level, and students’ needs.

All schools develop a Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP) that includes information about the specific ways that educators meet the needs of Highly Capable (HC) learners.
