Individualized Education Program

A legal document that describes a student’s learning needs, the services the school will provide, and how progress will be measured.
A written document that includes:
- statement of the student’s present level of functioning,
- statement of annual goals and short-term objectives for achieving those goals,
- statement of services to be provided and the extent of regular programming,
- starting date and expected duration of services, and
- evaluation procedures and criteria for monitoring progress. The IEP is developed mutually by the child’s parents with a team of Seattle Public Schools specialists.
