Individualized Education Program

A legal document that describes a student’s learning needs, the services the school will provide, and how progress will be measured.

A written document that includes:

  1. statement of the student’s present level of functioning,
  2. statement of annual goals and short-term objectives for achieving those goals,
  3. statement of services to be provided and the extent of regular programming,
  4. starting date and expected duration of services, and
  5. evaluation procedures and criteria for monitoring progress. The IEP is developed mutually by the child’s parents with a team of Seattle Public Schools specialists.
