    Community members celebrate second Somali book launch!
    On March 29, 2019 the community gathered together to celebrate the latest Somali children's book, "Baro Tirinta Af Soomaaliga" at the NewHolly Gathering Hall. The Somali Family Task Force partnered with Seattle Public Library, Seattle Public Schools and Superintendent Denise Juneau, and Seattle Housing Authority for this project. Jenny Durkan, Seattle Mayor, declared the day of the launch to be "Baro Tirinta Af Soomaaliga Day."  Visit the Somali Counting Book Launch and Celebration webpage for more details.

    Community Meeting For Draft Strategic Plan

    Thank you to the community who attended meetings and participated in thoughtful discussions and provided feedback during the Draft process. The Strategic Plan is much stronger because of you! The final plan reflects a shared commitment to racial equity and justice.     Seattle Public Schools and the Board of Directors believe community engagement and two-way communication are essential to improving district decisions and outcomes for students.

    Attend a School Board Meeting

    You are invited to attend the public Seattle Public Schools Board meetings to gain a better understanding of school business and the role of the Board. The Seattle Public School Board welcomes members to address the Board on agenda items and other issues of concern during public testimony.

    The final list of public testimony will be posted on the meeting's agenda by the close of business the day before the regular Board meeting. All meeting agendas are located on the Board Agenda webpage and posted the Friday before Board meetings.

    Advisory Boards, Committees, and Task Forces

    Seattle Public Schools has a number of task forces and committees created to address specific issues, programs and School Board priorities.  Task forces meet for one year or less. Advisory committees are ongoing.
