    About Chandra Hampson

    Director Hampson represents District 3, which includes Northeast Seattle, including Sand Point, View Ridge and Bryant. She was elected to a four-year term in the November 2019 general election.

    Chandra N. Hampson’s professional focus is on designing and improving access to capital and supporting sustainable economic development. Currently operating as an independent contractor, Chandra worked directly in the financial services industry through 2011. After a seven-year stint in corporate banking, Chandra joined Craft3 as senior vice president and director of the Indian Country Initiative for, a non-profit community development financial institution serving Oregon and Washington.

    A long-term board member of First Nations Development Institute and its subsidiary First Nations Oweesta Corporation (FNOC), Chandra currently chairs the FNOC Loan Committee. Prior to receiving her MBA, Chandra was a nonprofit manager with community development, continuing education and small family foundation organizations.

    Steeped in the values supporting local community participation and action, Chandra has dedicated much of the past seven years to building a basis of advocacy in education and supportive services for neighborhood and Native families. She served as PTA president at her children’s Title I school for two terms and as vice president for Title VII Native Education Parent Advisory Committee at Seattle Pubic Schools. She spearheaded numerous advocacy campaigns in collaboration with state, school district and city elected officials. She served as Seattle Council PTSA president. Chandra also sat for three years on the Magnuson Park Advisory Council with Seattle Parks and Recreation as well as the Magnuson Community Center Advisory Council.

    Chandra graduated from the University of Washington MBA program in 2000 with an emphasis in finance and marketing. She received her B.A. in studio art from Stanford University in 1992.

    Chandra is HoChunk Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and the Anishinaabe from the White Earth Reservation. Growing up primarily in Northeastern Oregon, Chandra also spent time in Winnebago and Italy.

    She and her husband live with their two girls in Seattle. Chandra also coaches softball teams with Northeast Seattle Little League and Seattle Pilots Softball.
