Service Learning Graduation Requirement Temporarily Suspended

On February 10, the Seattle School Board approved the temporary suspension of the service learning graduation requirement, which requires students to complete 60 hours of service learning in order to graduate, in response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. The service learning graduation requirement is suspended through Aug. 31, 2021 and applies to all students graduating from the date of Board approval, February 10, through August 31. Please refer to the Board Action Report for more information.

Previously, the School Board authorized the suspension of the service learning requirement for students in the Class of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is important that students do not put themselves at risk by pursuing unsafe service learning options in order to graduate this year.

Students will not be required to submit waivers for the service learning requirement in order to graduate. Learn more about Seattle Public Schools graduation requirements.
