Looking Ahead to School Year 2021-22

Seattle Public Schools is planning for five full days of in-person instruction at all 104 schools beginning on September 1, 2021. We are committed to working with our families, students, and staff to open schools and welcome back all students while continuing to prioritize the health of our school communities.

As we plan for the 2021-22 school year — 180 Days of Excellence — we will be focused creating the conditions necessary for students to thrive. Seattle Public Schools will provide high-quality and engaging learning, a culture of care for students and staff, and will be prepared respond to the needs of our students and school communities.

We will share regular planning updates on this webpage and through School Beat, the district newsletter, including information for new and returning families, students of all grade levels and schools, and details on nutrition, transportation, family engagement, and more.

    School Operations

School start and end times (bell schedule): Most schools will resume pre-pandemic start and end times. Your school will communicate if there are any changes to this schedule in response to the need of their individual communities.

Meals: Breakfast and lunch will be provided at all 104 schools. The structure of lunch may look different in order to follow health and safety protocols. More information will be provided soon.

Transportation: Regular transportation services will resume Fall 2021 for students that qualify for SPS transportation. Full days of instruction and 10 months of work will likely make driver recruitment more successful in a competitive market.
