    Schedules for Students in Preschool and PreK-12 Special Education Intensive Services Pathways

    At the Board Special Meeting on February 25, the Seattle School Board approved a resolution that that categorizes the work of supporting students served in PreK-12 Special Education Intensive Services Pathways (Focus, Moderate/Intensive, Social Emotional Learning, Distinct, Medically Fragile, Bridges, Developmental Preschool) and Preschool (Head Start, Head Start Plus+, Seattle Preschool Program, SPP+) as essential per the Memorandum of Understanding approved August 12, 2020.

    Students being served in preschool classrooms, including Developmental Preschool, Head Start, Head Start Plus+, Seattle Preschool Program, and SPP+, will begin on March 11, 2021. K-12 Special Education Intensive Service Pathways will begin to return in-person on March 11, 2021. These students will return in phases over the month of March. Included below are schedules that you can expect your students to follow if you have opted for them to return in-person.

    Preschool Illustrative Schedules

    Preschool students who chose in-person instruction will receive instruction for four days a week (M/T/Th/F). Half day programs will remain half day (M/T/Th/F). Wednesdays will be reserved for remote instruction, which will consist of synchronous and asynchronous activities. All preschool classes will resume in-person on March 11 for those who choose to return in-person.

    Full Day In-Person Schedule (SPP/Plus and Head Start/Plus Preschool)

    • 8:30-8:45 a.m.: Hand Washing/Breakfast/Hand Washing; Attestation/Attendance; Free Choice
    • 8:45-9 a.m.: Check-in/Morning Circle (SEL)
    • 9-10 a.m.: Movement/Recess/Break; Hand Washing
    • 10-10:30 a.m.: Small Group Instruction (Math/Literacy/SEL)
    • 10:30-11 a.m.: Hand Washing; Break; Hand Washing
    • 11-11:45 a.m.: Free Choice/Work Time/Seesaw; Art/Science/Math/Literacy/Movement/SEL)
    • 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m.: Hand Washing; Lunch/Recess; Hand Washing
    • 1:15-2 p.m.: Rest Time/Quiet Time (Books, Puzzles)
    • 2-2:30 p.m.: Individual/Small Group Instruction (Art/Science/Math/Literacy/Movement/SEL)
    • 2:30-3 p.m.: Closing Circle/Pack Up/Dismissal; Hand Washing; Family Connection

    Part-Day In-Person AM (Morning) Schedule (Developmental Preschool and Head Start Preschool)

    • 8:30-8:45 a.m.: Hand Washing/Breakfast/Hand Washing; Attestation/Attendance; Free Choice
    • 8:45-9 a.m.: Check-in/Morning Circle (SEL)
    • 9-9:30 a.m.: Movement/Recess/Break; Hand Washing
    • 9:30-10 a.m.: Small Group Instruction ; IEP Goal and SDI; (Math/Literacy/SEL) 
    • 10-10:30 a.m.: Hand Washing; Snack Break; Hand Washing
    • 10:30-11 a.m.: Free Choice/Work Time (Art/Science/Math/Literacy/Movement/SEL) 
    • 11-11:10 a.m.: Closing Circle/Bathroom/Transition 

    Full Day Remote Schedule (SPP/Plus and Head Start/Plus Preschool)

    For preschool families who choose to remain in remote learning for the remainder of the school year, schedules will look like:

    • 8:30-9 a.m.: Morning Circle/Large Groups (SEL)
    • 9-9:30 a.m.: Movement/Recess
    • 9:30-10 a.m.: Break
    • 10-10:30 a.m.: Small Group Instruction (Math, Literacy, SEL)
    • 10:30-11:30 a.m.: SeeSaw Asynchronous Learning Experiences (Math, Literacy, Science, Art, Literacy, Movement, SEL)
    • 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Lunch/Rest/Outside
    • 1:30-2 p.m.: Individual or Small Group Instruction (Math, Literacy, SEL)
    • 2-2:30 p.m.: Closing Circle/Afternoon Playdate (Music/Movement, Art, SEL)
    • 2:30-3 p.m.: Family Connection

    Part-Day Remote PM (Afternoon) Schedule (Developmental Preschool and Head Start Preschool)

    • 12:20-12:35p.m.: Check-in/Afternoon Circle (SEL) 
    • 12:35-12:50 p.m.: Movement/Recess/Break
    • 12:50-1:20 p.m.: Small Group Instruction; IEP Goals and SDI  (Math/Literacy/SEL) 
    • 1:20-1:50 p.m.: Snack Break 
    • 1:50-2:20 p.m.: Free Choice/Work Time/Seesaw Activities (Art/Science/Math/Literacy/Movement/SEL) 
    • 2:20-2:50 p.m.: Closing Circle/Afternoon Playdate (Music/Movement, Art, SEL)
    • 2:50-3 p.m.: Family Connections

    Special Education Schedules

    K-12 special education students enrolled in an Intensive Pathway who are choosing in-person instruction will receive in-person instruction for the full day four days a week (M/T/Th/F). Wednesdays will be reserved for remote instruction, which will consist of synchronous and asynchronous activities.

    The Special Education department and Health Services department will communicate with families the steps necessary for returning to school and their child's specific start date.

    Individual student schedules will vary based on the services that student receives.

    In-person school day start and end times will remain the same as remote learning so that students receiving special education services can access their general education classes.
