    ORCA Cards Now Available for Middle School Students

    ORCA Cards are now available for middle school students (grades 6-8) who are currently eligible for yellow bus service. If you would like a card, please contact TransOrca@seattleschools.org. Cards will be prepared and delivered to the closest Technology Resource Center to your student’s school of attendance beginning next week and you will receive a confirmation when and where you may pick it up.

    Who's eligible?

    Any middle school student (grades 6-8) who used the yellow bus to get to school before the pandemic.

    ORCA cards distributed through the Transportation Department cover youth fare for unlimited travel on the following providers:

    • Bus: Community Transit, Everett Transit, Kitsap Transit, King County Metro Transit, Pierce Transit, and Sound Transit
    • Rail: Sound Transit, Link Light Rail, Sound Transit Sounder train (including Rail Plus partnership with Amtrack Cascades), Seattle Center Monorail
    • Streetcar: Seattle Streetcar
    • Ferry: King County Water Taxi and Kitsap Local Ferries and Fast Ferries
    • Access Transportation: Metro and Kitsap Transit Access Transportation (eligible riders only)

    A Conditions of Use form will need to be signed by the parent/guardian or student to receive an ORCA card. Read the ORCA card conditions of use agreement.

    FAQ

    Can students start using their new ORCA cards right now?

    All ORCA cards are active and ready for use and will be valid until the end of the 2020-21 school year. Cards will be deactivated after the last day of school.

    What is the process for lost ORCA cards?

    Contact TransOrca@seattleschools.org immediately for deactivation and issuance of a replacement card. Fees are $5.50 for the first replacement and $25 for the second and all subsequent replacements.

    How can students confirm their eligibility for an ORCA card?

    If you would like to have an ORCA card or are unsure if you are eligible, contact TransOrca@seattleschools.org.

    Do I need my student ID card to pick up my ORCA card?

    No, you do not need to present a student ID card, however you will need to provide the student's name and student ID in order to pick up a card.
