School Construction Sites to Comply with COVID-19 Safety Requirements

Low-risk construction work is allowed to resume under Phase 1 of Safe Start Washington, Governor Inslee’s phased approach to re-opening the state. This allows Seattle Public Schools to proceed with the construction projects scheduled to begin or take place this summer. Planning for these projects began in 2019. Projects already in progress include Daniel Bagley Elementary, Webster, and Wing Luke Elementary Schools.

Contractors working on district projects are required to comply with the state’s Phase 1 Construction Restart COVID-19 Job Site Requirements. Contractors must develop and post a site safety plan that addresses the phase 1 construction safety requirements. District project managers will be reviewing these safety plans to ensure they address all 30 requirements outlined in the Governor’s Memorandum allowing Phase 1 construction activities to begin. Projects in progress at Daniel Bagley Elementary, Webster, and Wing Luke Elementary have these COVID-19 safety plans in place.

Phase 1 COVID-19 job site safety practices are required as long as Governor Inslee’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” proclamation is in effect.
