    Teacher Appreciation Week May 2 - 6

The first week in May is set aside each year for thanking and honoring teachers, and all of our educators, for all they do to serve the students of Seattle Public Schools.

Teachers give meaning to our motto: "Every student. Every classroom. Every day." They touch the lives of our students daily as they educate, innovate, encourage and support. Their work extends far beyond the boundaries of a classroom.

Unlike other careers in which the same method can be applied time and time again, teaching requires an individualized approach as each student in our diverse student body learns differently.

"Visiting classrooms is the highlight of my week. I appreciate the work our educators do to reach each and every student in Seattle Public Schools," says Superintendent Larry Nyland. "I encourage everyone to take time to celebrate our teaching colleagues during Teacher Appreciation Week."

We know that excellent instruction in every classroom is the single most important factor in student success. Thank you for your dedication and creativity as we work together to achieve that success for every student, in every classroom, every day!

Tell us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram about a teacher who has influenced you or your student and how you plan to celebrate teachers during the week. Be sure to use the hashtag #ThankATeacher when sharing and add our handle, @seapubschools.
