    Noel Treat Named New General Counsel

    Noel Treat will join Seattle Public Schools as general counsel in January 2016. Superintendent Larry Nyland announced Treat's appointment Friday, December 4, 2015.

    Treat has devoted his career to public service and has more than 20 years of experience in legal, management, and policy issues facing local governments and school districts. Treat previously served Seattle Public Schools as general counsel and deputy superintendent.

    He has also held several senior local government leadership positions including city manager for the City of Mercer Island, chief of staff for the King County Executive, and section head for the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, as well as positions as city attorney and as an assistant attorney general.

    He received his law degree from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado College. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his kids (all of whom are SPS students), fly fishing, skiing and reading.
