    Enriching Teaching and Learning Through the Use of Technology

    The Education TechnologyLeader (ET) is a building leadership position that seeks to improve teaching and learning through education technology and digital learning to support Seattle Public Schools district wide initiatives. The building ET’s are certificated, non-supervisory staff who work closely with building leadership and the district Digital Learning Specialists (DLS’s). The ET will present at building meetings and PLC’s working to help staff implement education technology and digital learning. ET’s will convene as a group at least 4 times per year for training and collaboration, engage in self-directed training, and provide input for system wide improvements. ET work supports the foundational beliefs of fostering learning communities that address racial equity. This is not a hardware/software troubleshooting position, but rather a teacher leadership position.

    Expected Time Commitment:

    • 25 hours per school year including training, presenting at staff meetings, and meeting with PLC’s or individual teachers 
    • 4 district Virtual meetings (2 hours each) is an expectation of all Education Technology leaders and a requirement of being an ET. 
    • 7 hours personal development and planning

    Stipend Amount:

    • $1,928.49 * Elementary 
    • $2,178.41 * Secondary, schools with enrollment over 1,000 are eligible for 2 stipends
    • Stipend may be split between 2 staff (K-8 schools may want to split stipend between elementary and 6-8 as the training are different)

    *Stipends will be adjusted annually based on cost of living. Stated rate is the 2020-2021 rate. Stipend funded with capital funds that must be used to support technology projects.

    Stipends will be paid monthly of each school year for 10 months beginning in September to ensure that no overpayments are made for participants who are unable to fulfill their duties. Principal to confirm payments.

    Responsibilities:

    • Attend all 4 district virtual meetings
    • Actively engage building staff by virtually presenting at staff meetings, and PLC’s to promote improved instructional practices using SPS digital learning tools.
    • Purposefully share district training with staff on key initiatives (e.g. Digital Learning, New grade book and report card systems, new districtwide software deployments, etc.)
    • Act as a point of contact for the district to share Education Technology and Digital Learning updates
    • Pursue professional development and training opportunities to meet the needs of the school

    Required ET Meetings: All meetings will be virtual for 2020-2021

    ET Meeting dates for 2020-2021 school year:
    September 22nd, 2020, 4:00-6 p.m.
    November 2020, 4:00-6 p.m.
    January 2021, 4:00-6 p.m.
    March 2021, 4:00-6 p.m.
    June 2021, End of Year Celebration and Reflection

    ET Virtual Staff Training Dates for 2020-2021 school year:
    Principal and ET decide where/when/how. Choose between direct instruction during building TRI days, independent instruction using contracted Tech Time, or any method schools want to handle training staff TRI days. On-demand videos will be provided. Training options will be fulling explained during the ET meetings.
