    Girls in Science

    Build confidence in your science skills under the mentorship of real scientists from the Burke Museum and the University of Washington. Girls in Science is designed for girls who are looking for female role models, or who are inexperienced or unconfident in the sciences.


    One Sunday a month • October–May 9:30 am – 12:30 pm • Grades 6–8 • FREE
    Explore a variety of STEM fields such as oceanography, neuroscience, biology and spectroscopy. Participants conduct experiments with plants, explore the effects of climate change, discover how the brain works, and more! Applications close September 30, 2018.


    Wednesday afternoons • winter & spring quarter • 3:15–5:15 pm • Grades 9–12 • FREE
    Be a part of the groundbreaking research happening at the Burke! This winter, investigate the Burke’s plant collections to learn about plant morphology, create scientific illustrations, and see how modern plants compare to fossils. Applications for winter quarter close December 2, 2018.
