Grounds Stewardship

Grounds Stewardship Project Process

Complete a Grounds Stewardship Project Form to initiate the process of hosting an outdoor volunteer event at your school.

Projects may include weeding, raking, planting bulbs, mulching pathways, and more. Please submit all requests at least two weeks before the project date.

All volunteers must complete online registration as a Self Help Volunteer prior to your event.

Send in your total volunteer hours, and any yard waste removal requests to SelfHelpProjects@seattleschools.org following each work party.

Tool Loans and Supplies

Self Help has a tool library to support your projects! We can supply yard waste bags, shovels, rakes, gloves, wheelbarrows and more.

We are no longer able to provide arbor mulch for your project, we can assist you to procure donated arborist mulch or direct you to a reputable vendor to purchase mulch from.

Support our grounds staff by keeping bags under 35 pounds, and placing yard waste bags near truck access and out of the rain. Be sure to let the Self Help office know when you have yard waste ready for removal so we can help keep schools looking their best.
