    Seattle Public Schools Wins "Honorable Mention" Award at Amazon Web Services Public Sector Conference

    Amazon Web Services sponsors an annual competition called the "City on a Cloud Innovation Challenge".This global event is designed to encourage innovative uses of cloud technology in the public sector. For the first time, this year’s event was opened for participation by schools and school districts. On behalf of SPS, the DoTS Business Intelligence team submitted a proposal to apply machine learning and other cloud-based analytical technology towards Eliminating Opportunity Gaps (EOG). This proposal was named a finalist in the “Dream Big” category and was recognized with an “Honorable Mention” award at the AWS Public Sector Summit in Washington, D.C. on June 14. Judie Jaeger, Director, Information Systems and Business Intelligence, accepted $5,000 in AWS credits on behalf of SPS to help further this work.
