As a student-Assignments & readings might take longer than you anticipate

As a staff-I didn’t have the support I needed in school & I will try my hardest for that not to be the case for you

Advice for someone going to a job interview?

Bring a copy of your resume and application with you and make sure to get the email of the person interviewing you and send a thank you within 24-48 hours of the interview. I have seen this be the make or break for getting the job offer.

I was 12 when I decided I was going to be an educator

We do a pretty good job, considering. The danger for teachers is to group and categorize students; we’re taught that and it hasn’t helped my practice as a teacher. Same for kids doing that with staff

Advice for someone going to a job interview?

Use your soft skills-Look the person in the eye, use eye contact, speak audibly and proudly. You go this!

As a kid, what did you want to do when you grew up?

I didn’t want to be a teacher. My parents were teachers for students with IEPs. I thought maybe I might get into DJing, go into communications.

But, here I am. I like this job. I like working at Chief Sealth. Lots of dynamic personalities, a legit community, a positive community working toward change

Hopefully still in West Seattle. I love the beach

Both sides want respect, so you must give what you would like to see in return.
