What is Early Entrance to Kindergarten

Early Entrance to Kindergarten is a four (4) week trial in kindergarten at the beginning of the school year. According to Washington state school attendance rules, a child must be five years old by August 31 to attend kindergarten. Children whose date of birth is between September 1 and October 31, 2015 may be considered for EEK.

Parents or guardians may apply to have their child evaluated by a kindergarten teacher to observe how the child interacts in a classroom environment and complete a basic check of readiness skills to see if their child is eligible for EEK.
