    Seattle Public Schools Construction Projects

Most construction projects at Seattle Public Schools are funded by local, voter-approved capital levies. Other funding sources include Distressed Schools Grants from the state of Washington and the state School Construction Assistance Program.

Major construction projects, such as replacement buildings or major modernization/historic renovations, continue over multiple years. Smaller projects are usually scheduled for summer months to reduce disruption to teaching and learning. These summer projects include safety and security projects, seismic upgrades, building systems repairs or replacement, and roofing projects.

    Current Major Projects

Construction is underway to replace Wing Luke Elementary, and to modernize and construct building additions at Daniel Bagley Elementary and Webster School. Several upcoming projects are in planning, including additions at Coe, Magnolia, West Seattle, and Woodland Park elementary schools; replacement of Kimball, Northgate, and Viewlands elementary schools; and replacement of Rainier Beach High School.
