    Option Schools with Continuous Enrollment

    (formerly Alternative Learning Experience)

    Option schools with continuous enrollment offer unique services, opportunities, and learning environments to meet individual student needs. Students may request assignment to these schools or may be referred to one. These schools do not have geozones. Families are welcome to apply to these schools during Open Enrollment and throughout the school year.

    Service Schools

    Students are usually placed in a service school based on individual assessment. Assignments to service schools are choice assignments except for the Secondary Bilingual Orientation Center (SBOC), which is a designated assignment.

    Interagency Academy is a network of small, alternative high schools spread out across Seattle designed to support students who need different supports than comprehensive schools offer. Interagency Academy partners with community-based organizations and agencies to provide unique learning environments with targeted interventions. Interagency Academy is committed to working with every student, regardless of his or her past, and we believe that every student can grow and succeed if given the right support and encouragement.

    Middle College High School is a high school option to earn credits for a high school diploma and preparation for higher education in a small, caring environment, which includes three unique schools. Each school offers core (i.e. Math, History, Language Arts, and Science) high school academic subjects that meet district requirements to graduate. Middle College High Schools share a common mission to encourage the development of community, personal responsibility, and active learning.

    Skills Center High School

    The Seattle Skills Center offers advanced career and technical education for high school juniors and seniors. Courses offer high school credit, industry recognized certification, advanced learning, and college credit. Programs are distributed throughout the city, not in a single building or location. Seattle Skills Center programs are located within Seattle Public Schools' high schools and community-based sites.
